Apologies for the sound quality of these covers by Dave Wood but it's the only record I have of him playing these songs. I recorded him in 1981 at a Teesside Poly Students Union gig for the Multi-Media Society on a cassette player.

When I started my degree at Teesside Poly in 1980 I met Dave Wood for the first time. At that stage he lived in Darlington and played and gigged in a duo with Darlington's Mike Campbell. They played everywhere at that stage with mainly cover versions (many of them Lindisfarne covers). They played a lot in the Student Union / student parties / Poly folk club / Multi media Society gigs / Dovecot and various places around Darlington, Highly popular and a lot of fun. Dave would often play a solo set afterwards, again,at that stage, mainly covers - so of which are on here. A bit later on Dave was keen to promote his own solo work and gradually built up a mixed repertoire of covers (to please the crowd) and his own songs.
